It's About Time!

I've been hanging on to this pattern, in it's final stages before publishing, for over a year now. My original intent was to include several different designs for the same doll size all in one eBook as I had done for Pukipuki and Pukifee sized dolls. For a number of reasons that just wasn't happening. I've decided now to publish the patterns individually, as they are ready. So here, without further ado is:

  Wovenflame's Minifee Pullover

It's knit top down in fingering/sock weight yarn on 2.5mm needles at a gauge of 9 stitches and 12 rows to the INCH. Length adjustments are easy to make because the sweater can be tried on while still a work in progress.

Hiya!

I have your Pukifee pattern book and absolutely love it! I got this one the other day and have started knitting it and it seems far too big for my minifee and like it is more likely to fit some of my SDs. I am wondering because the picture you have shows an Yder which I understand only come in SD.

I normally knit quite tightly though I have chosen a yarn that may be ever so slightly too bulky. (A rowan fine tweed). Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you!

Hi Ryn.

First I want to thank you for your kind support of my knitting patterns! I really appreciate hearing from knitters in the doll hobby.

You don't mention the gauge you are getting when knitting the Minifee Pullover pattern. The pattern has been very carefully worked out to fit Minifee when knit to the specified gauge. If you are getting less stitches per inch there is no way it will fit without major reworking of all the numbers.

The dolls in the pattern photos are both Minifees. The female is a Mirwen, and the male, as you say, is a Yder. But yes, he is a Minifee Yder. Yder was a Valentine's Event head in 2013.

Since you say the pattern seems to be working up to fit your SD dolls why not finish it for them, making adjustments in the length of the body and sleeves to fit? I would then suggest that you play with your yarn thickness and needle size until you are able to reach the stated gauge of 9 stitches and 12 rows per inch. Once you reach the correct gauge you will find the sweater will fit Minifee exactly as pictured. Just as in knitting a human sized sweater, gauge is crucial to achieving a proper fit.

Kindly,
Marlene

Thank you for your help! I was planning to finish it for my friend's girl and then try again! I will try with a much thinner yarn I think and see where that leads me. It probably doesn't help either than I have a moe boy so he's really quite a tiny thing.

I really love your patterns and they are quite lovely.

I have learned more about Minifees today! I didn't know they'd had Yder as an event head.

I look forwards to getting more of your patterns in the future!

I don't have a moe body for measurements Ryn, but if he's *really* thin perhaps the free Littlefee tunic pattern might fit with some length adjustments?
