Picture NOT worth a 1,000 words.

I took dozens of pictures of the Rainbow Doily last night and not one of them truly represents the correct color of the doily. I experimented with backgrounds, lighting, flash, angle......everything I could think of, but the color kept turning out wrong. The doily is FAR prettier in real life than it is in this photograph. It's disappointing to not be able to show you the real thing.

Holy smokes - that pic isn't as good as the real thing???

Well, then don't show me the real thing, because the picture itself literally knocked the wind out of me...

Beautiful, gorgeous, stunning, amazing...

WOW.

Thanks for the compliment Amie. The colors really aren't showing well in the photo....especially the area near the center from purple through orange.

That's gorgeous! So does everyone you know think you're completely mental for running around arranging little bits of knitted and crocheted work all over the house and then standing on furniture trying to photograph it at the best angle? No, me neither.

Actually, the final "winning" entry was taken on the floor with me leaning over it (hence the toe in the lower left). I took about 25 pictures in all. The beauty of digital cameras....the $$-NO FEAR-$$ factor of multiple images.

Hmmm....strange. Suddenly my own blog is not recognizing me! I actually had to "flip the switch" from anonymous to Marlene. It had previously been doing it by default.

Marlene, your doily is fabulous, and you will go down in your family history as the best "thread artist",ever. Wow, its pretty. And....in reading your comments, I now notice your toe in the corner of the picture....hey, thats fun, ....how many other pictures can boast that touch? Congratulations on finishing such a gorgeous masterpiece!!!
